JIM KINNEY & PETE PALESTINA FOR SUPERVISOR

"THE TEAM WITH EXPERIENCE"

TAKING NORTHAMPTON FROM A "BETTER PLACE TO LIVE" TO A "MUCH BETTER PLACE TO LIVE"

The General Election was a close and fiercely fought one.  Jim and Pete as well as the Board of Supervisors had been attacked by their Democrat opponents who spread lies, exagerrations, innuendo and complete misstatement of the facts. Taking advantage of the press and the cable TV telecasts, they attempted to dupe the residents into thinking they were knowledgeable by gross exaggeration.   Aligned with certain business owners, the Democrats put out a massive ad campaign against the proposed new community center during the 2 week period prior the election.   They played on the fears of residents by projecting large tax increases that were just not true.  Despite having to overcome those obstacles, the GOP managed to bring Jim and Pete to victory.

Below are the Bios of Jim and Pete followed by their personal message.  They had also prepared an issues and answers paper in order to set the record straight and separate the facts from the fiction.  You can go to that page by clicking on the sidebar or click here.

Jim Kinney is an incumbent Supervisor who has 24 years of experience in Northampton Township government, 18 years as a Supervisor and 6 years as a member of the Township Planning Commission. He has been a resident of Northampton Township for 29 years and lives in Churchville. Jim has the knowledge and experience we need to continue to make Northampton the fine community we now live in. As a member of the Board of Supervisors he has supported the continuation of a strong zoning ordinance, open government, additional recreation facilities for the youth of the Township and demonstrated good fiscal responsibility in keeping taxes down without decreasing services to the residents. As liaison to the Planning Commission Jim worked diligently on the 1999 updated Comprehensive Plan. He served on the Farm Study Commission which adopted policies to save open space and natural resources in the township. He subsequently expanded the concept even further by voting with fellow Supervisors to purchase open space and development rights. Jim has been visible as a community leader and in 1976 led the fight against mid-rise apartments which led to his successful election as Supervisor in 1976.

Jim is a graduate of Temple University with a B.S. in Business Administration and is employed by the Bucks County Area Agency on Aging as the Administrative Officer for Public Affairs. He served in the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge. Jim’s background has given him many opportunities to serve as an officer on many regional boards. He is an excellent candidate to continue as a member of the Northampton Township Board of Supervisors.

A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM JIM AND PETE

Let us first start off by saying "God Bless America" and keep her strong in this time of increased anxiety that has followed the September 11th terrorist assault on America. You can be assured that our Northampton Emergency Management Services Team are prepared to go into action to assist in local emergency situations and continues with ongoing training to keep in tune with county, state and federal agencies.

During our 18 years as Supervisors, in addition to several years serving on the Planning Commission, we have been instrumental in bringing forth many positive philosophies such as: open government, televised public meetings, fiscal responsibility, low taxes, reduced trash collection fees, increased recycling revenue, installed traffic signals, improved intersections, award winning Annual Reports to residents, increased recreational facilities and programs, planned growth through the Comprehensive Plan with orderly development, implemented stormwater management controls, worked with residents and listened to concerns.

We need to ensure that all residents enjoy the time living and retiring in Northampton. We accomplish this by planning for senior housing, expanded recreational, library and senior center facilities and preserving open space. We also need to do this in a way that is affordable for residents.

We have the experience, our opponents do not. We have never sought higher office and we don’t know the ultimate agenda of our opponents. We love this township and that’s why we stayed in this office and God willing, we’ll retire and spend our remaining years in this township. We promise to continue that proud tradition and work for taking Northampton from a "Better Place To Live" to a "Much Better Place To Live".

Sincerely,

Jim Kinney and Pete Palestina
