Barbara has worked in the
Northampton Tax Office for over 16 years. She and her husband Walter have lived in
Northampton Township for over 36 years while being involved in many school and community
activities.
The system of tax collecting is governed by the Pennsylvania Commonwealth code and is
based on a member of the community assuming the responsibility of billing, collecting and
reporting tax revenues. The system has built-in checks and balances. The Northampton Tax
Collector is responsible for almost 14,000 real estate tax parcels and over 26,000
personal taxes as well as almost 12,000 refuse fee billings.
This office collects over 49 million dollars in tax revenues each year. All accounts
are balanced to the penny with over a 98% collection rate.
In the year 2000, this office gave thousands of printed real estate tax receipts to
residents in order for the resident to file for the Century Tax Rebate which was initiated
by Governor Ridge for school taxes paid in 1999. Barbara has maintained the high standards
and work ethics established by her predecessor, Mildred J. Peterson and will continue her
service to the community of Northampton Township with honesty and integrity.
Barbara is former Recording Secretary of the Bucks County Tax Collectors Association
and member of the Pennsylvania State Tax Collectors Association. In 1997 Barbara was the
Registration Chairman for the Pennsylvania State Tax Collectors Convention, which was held
locally in Bucks County. She is also Secretary of the Northampton Township Republican
Committee.
